About this deal

A single button at the front handles all the available controls, and the three ports at the rear are neatly arranged in a row. As usual, there is no mains adaptor for charging, but there is a USB-to-mini USB cable provided, along with an auxiliary cable. The other difference with this one is that, while it comes with a micro USB charger like the first Hive, this one won't charge from my USB wall plug (which charges every other device I've ever tried it with just fine) and will only charge from a laptop. KitSound designers have passionately engineered sound that delivers warm rich bass notes alongside a controlled midrange and a delicate treble that you will want to enjoy for hours.

BUT after extensive testing i have found that you have the volume too low on the audio source it will create the popping sound. It's never going to compete with a proper speaker, but it's easily as good as similar devices that cost 2 or even 3 times as much. The Hive 2+ has 12 hours of continuous play from one charge and can be charged with one of the thousand Micro USB cables you probably have kicking around the house. Understandably, KitSound is keen to emphasise that the Pocket Hive is equipped with such a component.

We do not accept money, gifts, samples or any other incentives in exchange for special consideration in writing our reviews. Not only is the Hive compatible with Apple, Android and Windows devices via Bluetooth, it has line-in connectivity too, meaning it will work with most mobile phones, computers, tablets and MP3 players using a standard 3. We have used it in the house to play our podcasts via bluetooth from our phones, taken it out on camping trips and out in the garden to play some tunes whilst barbequeing.

If you try and charge the speaker *while* it's cable connected to your device you get massive interference from the power source (bad design: they're right next to each other) making it unlistenable to. The Hive2 sounds flat and kind of muddy - there is more treble coming from the original Hive and the range is somehow more rounded and realistic. I got Microsoft to send me replacement ear pads and once I turn up the lever o the ledt ear to max, the volume problem is gone. Not only is The Hive compatible with Apple, Android and Windows devices via Bluetooth, but it’s supplied with a 3. When placed down on a flat surface such as a table this radiator delivers extra bass and clarity through a deep resonance.Whether you’re at the beach or having a party in the garden, music will no doubt feature within the ambience. Negatives: In Bluetooth mode with Audio books the sound clips after every pause in dialogue, presumably as the speaker tries to save battery - definitely needs to have more tolerance for pauses in sound.

I am reviewing it based on my real world usage experience with a Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Note 3, S3 and a Google Nexus 7. Then of course there's the sound, which lets face it is all you really want to know - for the size it's by far the best sounding device I've heard. It isn’t the loudest speaker around, unless you’re happy to put up with significant distortion, but the volume on offer is perfectly suitable for intimate listening. I bought it to use with an iPod Touch and I find it very easy to use although the battery life could be slightly better. Charging takes about three hours, and a full tank will power the KitSound through ten hours of playback.

The aux socket is a welcome addition for devices that don't have Bluetooth, or for quick playback from a friends phone for example. With his second opinion in mind I thought perhaps with the use of the EQ on the music player on my S7 I could get close to my sound quality preference of the original with the benefit of a more "complete" sound. In the past this would mean hooking up a portable stereo to an outlet somewhere or carrying a portable radio with an average quality speaker. After having used this device now for several months I would just like to say how very pleased I am.

Keep the music going for longer, just plug in your phone’s USB cable to charge it while still playing all your tunes. active drivers and an immense digital amplifier create 20W of pure expansive audio that will rival speakers double its size. With its powerful digital amplifier and active drivers, the Hive delivers controlled midrange and treble, while the passive radiator provides warm, full bass. We are an award-winning British audio brand that believes great-looking, high-quality audio products shouldn’t cost the world. It was well packed and arrived superfast , the instructions were easy to follow and it took less time to get it to work than it did to unpack it .Designed to stand on a solid surface or mounted on the wall, the Hive will definitely get everyone buzzing around this product! While you’re there, pick up some accessories for many mobile devices like the iPhone and the Nokia Lumia 925, which is a great phone to pair with the Hive!
