Each player chooses a Hero Card, which are used to keep track of life (HP) and blood (Special Resource). So, being dead has its advantages; you can come back at the start of the new match with some tricks up your robed sleeve, and seek bloody revenge upon those who dared strike you down earlier!There is constant fighting but the addition of monsters assist in keeping some of the blood from your hands, but not in your adversaries’ bodies. Dead wizard cards are drawn each new round that you’re are dead and there are other wizards alive and being epic. Any Battle Wizard who is eliminated before the end of the match spends their turn simply collecting a Dead Wizard card.

There are also ways to put the tokens back to the pool and cards that give bonuses at the end of the game for having them!Seriously, once you grok the flow to the steps in each Wizard's turn, the rounds pass pretty quickly, and the bodies begin to drop like flies. It has been a while since I have played those but I do not remember them being as mature in nature as this one. The spell components are all cunningly designed so that they form coherent and fun spell names when they're laid out in this way. With that said, it's an excellent example of the genre that solves many of the genre's typical problems and is a lot of fun besides. Each spell has a maximum of three components, but can contain fewer if the required components were not drawn.
