About this deal

I realize that more money is being put into mirrorless cameras and especially the importance of all mighty software developments and there are clear disadvantages to the mirror flapping (semi-translucent was one solution), but the optical viewfinder will always have advantages. I don't check it all the time, but when i do i don't want to loose contact with the model by scrolling through the modes all the time.

The a7 IV also offers the ability to live stream video over its USB connection using the audio and video standards (UVC/UAC) that are part of the USB standard. Given that BSI sensors are already widely used in the current generation of cameras, we're not expecting huge leaps forward in image quality.

Inheriting the latest colour science and creative modes from professional Sony cameras, shoot true-to-life vivid images with your own style. I want this warning full screen so i can check everything; are the eyes of the model not closed, how is the general feel and composition AND the exposure warning (if the model got closer to the flash or something). The camera can capture great video and stills, you just won't see it looking through the lousy viewfinder. no, you are again missing the point; other milc brands have a dof preview button because they are not native wysiwyg platforms. Once you've explored the camera and configured it the way you want, you can ignore much of what lurks in the menus and just get out and shoot.

Muskokaphotog - "The camera can capture great video and stills, you just won't see it looking through the lousy viewfinder. The BIONZ XR engine runs optimised AF and tracking algorithms to ensure uninterrupted tracking even for birds in flight, whose movement is hard to predict. With the addition of 4K capture at up to 60p and 10-bit video lending greater flexibility to Log footage (and allowing full HLG capture for HDR TVs), the a7 IV is a much more powerful video camera than its predecessors. The a7 IV joins the ranks of cameras that can shoot images for HDR displays, capturing a wider range of tones and displaying them in a way that looks more natural. The a7 III still does very well at most of the things the a7 IV does, which could undermine the attempt to push the series upmarket. Based on our experiences, Sony's AF system is very powerful and very easy to use, giving little reason to jump between many of its (frankly overwhelming) selection of AF area modes.

Unlike Canon, which only uses HEIF capture for HDR images, the Sony lets you shoot standard DR images in 10-bit, with a choice of 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 chroma sub-sampling, if you can find benefit to doing so. Enjoy the glory of 4K60p (super 35mm) for your content creation or opt for a high definition mode in 4K30p (full frame – downsample from 7K). Given the choice, we'd prefer the addition of either waveforms or false color displays to make it easier to optimize exposure (particularly when shooting Log footage), but it's certainly a useful addition. I can only imagine how many countless pages of discussion would have been avoided on DPR over the years if some helpful person always came along when ever there was a technical question about a camera and said "Only the manufacturer can answer that question! Sorry, I was trying to get this done before my vacation in April but just about everything that could go wrong, did.Pushing from base ISO for a dual gain ISO camera seems odd, unless the goal is maximum dynamic range and not noise level, since you get about one full stop less noise in the shadows from second gain level (around ISO 400 or 560 for newer Sony cameras). Overall the a7 IV looks to be a very capable camera: one with much-enhanced video and more sophisticated autofocus.

Both of the a7 IV's slots accept SD cards (up to UHS-II type), with the top slot also having an inner recess that accepts CFexpress Type A cards. The Sony A7 IV also includes unique video tools such as breathing compensation, a digital audio interface to attach professional audio microphones and a heat dissipation structure for long recording sessions.I assume Sony is leaving room to put better features on higher end cameras as well as cut some cost. Furthermore, this can be assigned to custom buttons, allowing you to quickly toggle between options whilst mid-shoot. When shooting in its 35mm full-frame standard mode, this Fast Hybrid AF (phase-detection AF / contrast-detection AF) provides 759 Phase Detection points. If that's your attitude, then there's very little point in any kind of camera reviews or discussion" No, because it's a fact, ONLY Sony can answer that question. Since the backlight burns appreciable power, you can’t just increase the brightness arbitrarily to compensate for this.
