About this deal

Diamond and Rubies on my skin is very different from Charlie Gold, its main notes are rose and spicy peaches on an amber/benzoin/vanilla . I blind bought this because someone mentioned it on one of the threads as being a surprising makeup scent. It does justice to the retro versions of fragrance of old Hollywood glamour, very Rita Hayworth, something I would expect a gorgeous red hair beauty to wear. My boyfriend smelt it and said it smells like ‘falooda’ which is a milky, ice creamy, rose water cold desert. But I refuse to let memories ruin a scent for me, and wore this, picking it apart until I saw it's beauty.

This is an inspiration to anyone in the perfume industry - or anyone in the arts/design/perfume world. Opens quite intense, filling the air with a trail of what others have described as "churchy", rich incensy and aromatic.

I love the warm, spicy notes and like another commenter said if you like Tresor you will most likely like this, and I love Tresor. Peach is a powdery fruit, but on my skin this is not at all powdery like Fancy Love , all peachy talc (I love powdery scents but not soapy).

Brought to mind when me and me auld man were courting, deep, smooth, sensational, long lasting and big in sillage. They dressed for themselves because they were comfortable in themselves, and that's what this perfume is about. There's something so odd about how you almost have to use a great dent in the bottle to get to this incensey, powdery rose that is as syrupy sweet as it is aged like mulled wine. I don't know what it was, but I detected NONE of the rich, creamy, peachy, soothing-spicy notes that others love. I find this to be the best of the Elizabeth Taylor fragrances in creating a glamorous, luxurious fragrance.Try it on the skin after hot bath or shower and under the clothes to preserve the smell and it will blossom on you like it was intended to. I have to add that I don’t often get compliments on my perfume these days, mainly because fragrances are weaker and have little or no sillage because of scent stabilizers being reduced in the past few years .

Me auld nostrils filled with the deliciousness of rosy spiced peach, creamed with almond and vanilla, enveloped in resins and cedar! In the dry down, it becomes a smooth, warm vanilla and almond caress, with hints of sandalwood and benzoin "wafting" around it. I received this today and I have the flu so my nose isn’t great so forgive me if I’m incorrect but to me it has a Gloria Vanderbilt powder scent to it. Vanilla, spices, amber, and a mix of light and somewhat powdery floral notes filled my nose (I think I can parse out the ylang-ylang, though I haven't smelled any of the other flowers separately, so it's hard for me to tell which ones stand out).

My initial reaction to smelling Diamonds and Rubies was "Coty Exclamation grew up and got a makeover". It is rounded, doesn’t screech, the Rose is not mega rosey or old at all, on my jumper there is a touch more clean spice.Fatima1219 I was just having some grim daydream along the lines of what you described, a little eerie to say the least! It’s rainy and cold today, and the rose is prominent as a clear, fresh, dewy rose, along with sweetness, which is very lovely. As I got on the elevator to go up to my floor a nicely suited older gentleman got on the elevator with me. I don't feel nothing synthetic, harsh or out of place here and I'm not easy to please, especially with cheapie scents. For some reason it reminded me of my aunt's bathroom from the 1970's and I could never get past that.
