About this deal

On the palate, this Whisky expresses notes of apple, candied pear, peach in syrup and touches of honey combined with a touch of caramel, grilled oak and fine / discreet hints of spice, cedar, chocolate and a subtle hint of vanilla (in the background). Glenfarclas has become famous for making incredible sherried Speyside whiskies over the last couple hundred years. Glenfarclas for me has simply always been there: not the topic of trendy chatter, nor forgotten whisky that never gets talked about, but always solid.

Glenfarclas means ‘Valley of the Green Grassland’ and the spring water, which ensures the verdant green grass, is essential to the distinct flavour of Glenfarclas Highland Single Malt Whisky. Without prejudice to the section Liability below, the Service may be temporarily unavailable during maintenance, updates, etc. As the Scotch producer marks the occasion with its first age statement, production director John Campbell shares his take on its first half-decade. Earthy notes of dried leaves, wet wool, and a hint of maltiness start things off on the nose, then citrus and red apple. You shall not contribute any discriminatory, racially offensive, abusive, offensive, threatening, intimidating, inaccurate, incomplete, obscene, profane, harassing, or illegal material and/or Contributions, or any other Contributions that infringes, or may infringe, or violates or may violate, any third party’s rights, including intellectual and industrial property rights, rights of privacy and publicity. It was a nice touch, and one I’ve found that lends me some affection towards the distillery, even if I wouldn’t say that it’s among my very favourites.

But, in a whisky landscape largely dominated by far-away multinational corporations, I understood why they make such a point to sell this fairly unique aspect of the distillery. Unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise, your use of and membership to the Service are exclusively governed by Dutch law. Further, you shall not circumvent, remove, alter, deactivate, degrade or thwart any of the content protections, decompile, reverse engineer or disassemble the Service and any software related to or used in or by the Service.I look longingly in the distance towards Campbeltown and Islay, towards Bunnahabhain 25, Glen Scotia 25, and Springbank 25, knowing that I’ll likely never have a bottle, but perhaps a dram in a pub, on a very special occasion. Aroma: Complex, yet refined, with tempting aromas of marmalade, honey, freshly ground coffee, sherry and nuts. Intense, long lasting, dry and malty finish, with a tickle of dark chocolate rounding out this dram. Taste: Full bodied and robust, the sherry and the oak fight for your attention yet neither overpowering.

Today, the Glenfarclas spirit still lives strong and continues in family ownership under the direction of 5th generation owner, John Grant. The sherry punch of the regular 25 year old is dialled back to reveal orchard fruit as well as a layer of rich dried vine fruit and peel.

Today, the Glenfarclas spirit still lives strong and continues in family ownership under the direction of 5th and 6th generations, John and George Grant. If no such law exists in a Member’s country of residence, the Member has to be over 21 years old to use the Service. There it is combined with the finest malted barley, twice distilled in traditional, direct fired, copper pot stills and only the lightest and best fractions of alcohol are collected to be filled into the finest Spanish Sherry oak casks and lie maturing over many years.

The Glenfarclas 25 has a stunning amber hue with alluring dark gold tints, owing to its lengthy maturing period. Made at Glenfarclas distillery and matured in oloroso sherry casks for a quarter of a century before being bottled to celebrate The Whisky Exchange's 20th Anniversary.Below the sweetness is the same moody qualities as the nose with lots of old wood, baking spices, and leather creating great complexity for this whisky. I liked and continue to admire that Glenfarclas is one of the last family-owned distilleries in Scotland. Disputes that cannot be settled over multiple drams of whisky shall be solely submitted to the court of Amsterdam, The Netherlands unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise.
