About this deal

Brouwerij Bosteels (Bosteels Brewery) is a brewery in Buggenhout, Belgium founded in 1791 owned and operated by the same family for seven generations until its sale in 2016. A local inn in Dendermonde, part of Flanders fields, saw and opportunity to also give the coachmen an opportunity to have a drink. In Belgium, pretty much every single beer has it’s own unique glass, going from the lager which are simply branded glasses all the way down to the Trappist beers which have completely unique glasses. Pauwel Kwak Ambree Amber 8% abv You will smell a mellow, fruity and malty aroma with a slightly spicy character (coriander, hops). The holder allows you to present your Kwak Glass with pride, showcasing the craftsmanship of Bosteels Brewery.

According to the brewery, it was designed by the innkeeper Pauwel Kwak in the early 19th century for coachmen who, at the time, were not allowed to leave their vehicles. Glasses and other items have no restrictions but please be aware these are packaged very well to avoid breakages, so postage can be high. Its design is inspired by the iconic glassware traditionally used by coachmen who would hang them on their coaches during rest stops. Kwak has a most distinctive-shaped glass, resembling a stirrup cup or ‘yard of ale’, which is held upright in a wooden stand. The Kwak beer isn’t just served in a unique glass, the glass is accompanied by a wooden stand to ensure that it doesn’t fall over and spill the beer all across the able.Belgian-Style Ales makes no claims to currently hold nor is obligated to obtain any permits or licenses in the event they are required. Apparently Pauwel Kwak designed the glass during the 19th century for coachmen who wanted a drink but couldn’t leave their coach, although it wasn’t launched until the 1980s. Kwak was originally created in the late 18th century by Pauwel Kwak, a brewer and innkeeper from Dendermonde, Belgium.
