About this deal

I thought, maybe I have an older copy and the color has changed over time, but the cover on Goodreads is, if anything, more pink than the one in my hands. Leon is a neon orange chameleon, and as the interactive story progresses through different habitats, all the other chameleons change color, except for Leon. When we stopped, we looked at the color Leon had landed on and talked about whether he blended in or stood out.

It includes the scorching debut single “Rock ‘N’ Roll Is Alive”, originally released in 1979 on the tiny Big Deal Records. Bronnie is so lovely with the boys and we also felt that having a man enthusing about the books set a great example.

The art is printed on Hahnemaühle German Etching paper (310gsm), a conservation-grade high quality archival paper. At the club Bad News he met the record company owner Sanyi Tandan who offered him a recording contract and later released the successful single "Movin In The Right Direction" and later the album Artificial Stimulation (1983) with his group Neon Leon And The Bondage Babies. I really enjoyed reading Leap Frog by Jane Clarke and Britta Teckentrup and was, therefore, pleased to have the opportunity to review one of their other picture books. There are a surprising number of chameleon picture books out there; some to consider: The Mixed-Up Chameleon by Eric Carle, Blue Chameleon by Emily Gravett, and Who am I? and published by Oxford University Press), Puddle the naughtiest puppy (series created by Working Partners Ltd.

Yesterday a parent came over to tell me how impressed she was by the book fair and that you did a fabulous job of selling the books to the children first. I understand the criticism of this story for portraying a character who wants to fit in rather than who is happy to stand out. Your words, like your reviews, bring books to life and give them a voice before the front cover is even turned. The London years 76/77 were financially sponsored by Mick Jagger and Rolling Stones and Neon Leon's band had lots of money to spend while they did concerts with blues-rock and reggae songs.Simply leave your details and we‘ll drop you a friendly reminder about their birthday and a few gift ideas. Neon Leon is darling against all the contrasting backdrops and his story is the timeless message of finding a place where you fit in. In fact, even my daughter seemed to get that it was backwards: on every page, I was asking her what color Leon was supposed to be, and she’d say, “No, no, Leon, you are not supposed to be [blue]! It’s a fantastic independent book seller that will actually be responsive and select appropriate books for you.

He spots something over in the corner of the page, and walks very slowly (we count to 10 across the page) to a place where there are bright orange flowers, and, can we guess? I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly! Neon Leon was hanging out in Philadelphia when his first band Neon Leon and the Rainbow Express was formed and early (around 73/74) got the chance to be opening act for the rock group New York Dolls. ISBN: 9781839949388 Author: Clarke, Jane Publisher: Nosy Crow Publication Date: 1st June 2023 Imprint: Nosy Crow Cover: Paperback Dewey: 823. There was just the right amount of choice to suit everyone without being overwhelming and I received comments from parents and staff about the quality of books offered compared to previous sales which have always been based around current crazes and well known celebrity authors. In 1977 he starred in the exploitation film Punk Rock and Mick Jagger helped fund the release of his only album Artificial Stimulation, that strangely only came out in Sweden on the independent label Tandan in 1983. But in the early 80s, as the winds shifted, Leon moved back to Europe and settled in Sweden with some musical cohorts, and started the second phase of his underground rock’n roll career. Your framed print will arrive with D-rings and cord already attached, read y to hang right out of the box. It reminded me of watching Dora when I was younger, how I’d cheer on characters with her, or count to accomplish a mission. Also, the book has so many different approaches for kids learning systems that kind of snuck their way in- kind of like counting to ten before turning the page.

They get very grumpy and Leon sadly walks away- and finds some bright orange flamingos, with whom he blends in perfectly, until they fly away.To combat the message that a person must "fit in" I would try to focus on the time Leon spent with the flamingos, they were the same yet different. After 17 years in the UK, Britta now lives and works in Berlin with her Scottish husband and their son Vincent. After all, the origins of the berry folklore probably originated from the escapades of my delinquent brother Brett. We had free run of the neighbourhood and Brett would go haring off like a whippet, not seen again until he needed feeding and watering. There were plenty of rejections before my first picture book came out in 2001, but since then I have had lots more published.
