About this deal

Not only that, this mysterious Anti-Oracle is taking advantage of Gotham City s state of fear and has bombarded the city with falsities, spreading even more fear. Even though it’s not perfect, I don’t know how someone could read this without a smile creeping up on their face constantly. I had my problems with Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo’s Nightwing as I read their single issues when they first came out. When the Bat-Family receives misleading information and incorrect directions from Oracle, ones Barbara Gordon didn t send herself, they realise Oracle s system has been hacked!

I’m a fan of Tom Taylor and I trust that his plans for the character will pay off in ways that are equal parts heartfelt and thrilling. Tom Taylor is the creator of the Aurealis Award-Winning graphic novel series The Deep (which tells the adventures of a multi-ethnic family of underwater explorers who live on a submarine). I have not read any Nightwing solo comics – though the Grant Morrison/Scott Snyder-penned comics when Grayson was temporarily Batman is worth reading – but after reading Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo’s eleven-issue maxiseries Suicide Squad: Bad Blood, I was excited to see what they were going to do with the former Boy Wonder. There’s nothing inherently wrong with Taylor’s decision to give Dick a fortune and to focus on that burden, but it’s being treated as if it’s a grand new idea. There's also a new character going around Bludhaven taking people's hearts (and not in the romantic way). The emotional beats were fantastic, especially as Dick and the greater Bat family are still dealing with Alfred’s death. Lucas’ colors are also tantamount to Redondo’s success as every choice he makes is perfect, especially the soft pink and purple hues of Dick’s apartment lighting, which adds a dash of romance to Dick’s solo scenes with Barbara. Dick Grayson has had a lot of changes over the last few years, as he was a secret agent at one point, to then being shot in the head and becoming Rick, which is a run I'd like to forget ever happened.

And Batman and Babs get all misty-eyed that he is going to help the city by creating a philanthropic foundation for the poor. Taylor really understands the character and builds a great story around him and utilizes his supporting cast. Even the more comedic moments nail the landing due to Redondo’s expert ability in rendering character “acting” and portraying a sense of ease and comfort between Dick, Barbara, and Tim as they investigate the various criminals of Blüdhaven. Speaking of hearts, a killer named Heartless without an actual heart actually cuts out and saves hearts in Ball jars. Besides Babs and the dog, and so on, there is also Big News that Dick has a sister we have never heard about, Melinda Zucco, the daughter of Tony Zucco who killed Dick’s parents.I've ignored Nightwing's solo book for more than a decade now, so I missed all the agent of Spyral and Ric Grayson stuff, but I thought I'd give the new Vol. He has matured into someone more than Nathan's former sidekick into a fully formed character of his own, whilst still honouring the origins of the story we know and love.

I don’t usually touch on editors in my reviews, but in this volume Jessica Chen’s input and notes were noticeable from the outset, something which I thought was great to see and very helpful for new and old readers alike. comic) Batman and Robin (comic) Batman and Robin Eternal (comic) Batman/Superman (comic) Batman v Superman (General Mills) Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (comic) Batman: Arkham Unhinged Batwing (comic) Catwoman (comic) Detective Comics (comic) Earth 2 (comic) Earth 2: Society (comic) Gotham Academy (comic) Gotham Academy: Second Semester (comic) Gotham by Midnight (comic) Grayson (comic) Harley Quinn (comic) Injustice: Gods Among Us (comic) Injustice: Gods Among Us: Ground Zero (comic) Justice League (comic) Justice League/Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (comic) Justice League of America (Rebirth) Mother Panic (comic) New Suicide Squad (comic) Nightwing (comic) Poison Ivy: Cycle of Life and Death (comic) Red Hood/Arsenal (comic) Red Hood and the Outlaws (comic) Robin: Son of Batman (comic) Teen Titans Go! When Barbara attempts to tell Dick his past heroics have amounted to more than just punching bad guys, Dick admits it’s an “oversimplification”. But of course with him being a part of the Bat-Family there’s obviously going to be a set of problems and obstacles in his way. He’s a young man, perpetually stuck in that nebulous transition into adulthood where living on your own and forging your own path is only the start to becoming who you are meant to be.There is a strange semantics to some of this as Dick refers to his biological parents as…parents and Bruce and Alfred as his two fathers.
