About this deal

The rest of the recipe, is suitably inspired by my own s alted caramel cupcakes, and my homemade caramel sauce combined. I realise, the only real difference between my salted caramel cupcakesis that they have pretzels added in, but I am okay with that. Adaptations Salty pretzels covered in caramel and topped with your favorite candies. These loaded caramel dipped pretzels are kid-friendly, perfect for gift-giving and bake sales, and satisfy your salty/sweet tooth!

M&M's, peanuts, and caramel are perfect for any time of the year. Switch to Holiday M&M's for Christmas, Valentines, and Easter to make this easy chocolate caramel bark fit any season you want to serve it in!You can easily double or triple the batch to have plenty for bake sales or taking to share with friends and neighbors during the holidays.

How many times can you say ‘salted caramel’ in one summary of a recipe?! Far too many… and I still have so many more times to say it! Pour the sugar and butter mixture on top of the pretzels, spreading it around evenly. Don’t worry if you have some spots that aren’t covered with the sauce. Next, you will want to melt your chocolate. You can use white chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate or a combination between all three. I like to use the candy melts, but if chocolate chips are all you have, you can use those too.In a separate microwave safe, bowl, add chocolate chips. Place the bowl in the microwave and heat in 20-second intervals until the chocolate has fully melted; watch the chocolate melt carefully so it doesn’t dry up. Stir chocolate until smooth and creamy, then using a different fork begin to drizzle it over pretzels. When it comes to candy, I can say no to pretty much anything from the store any time. It holds no power over me. But homemade candy on the other hand? That's a whole different story. This beautiful recipe was inspired by Cupcake Jemma, as I had no idea how else to get pretzels into the cupcakes, and I didn’t just want them to be a decoration on top.

Using Kraft caramels: If you would rather skip making the homemade caramel, you could use Kraft caramels instead and melt them with a little bit of heavy cream, half-and-half, or evaporated milk. Follow the directions in my Homemade Turtles Candy post where I share how to take this approach! I have had several comments over my year of blogging about how amazing my cheesecakes are (thank you!) and that I am indeed the Cheesecake Queen (I’m blushing) but I have had many many many questions about how they set so well without any additions to help it – if you use FULL FAT ingredients, you follow my method, and you’re brave – there is no reason why it won’t work!PRO TIP: If you refrigerate this chocolate caramel pretzel bark, or set it to firm up in the freezer, it will 'snap' in clean breaks. Another way to use up a bag of pretzels is to throw them on top of chocolate pretzel peanut butter brownies along with peanut butter frosting. There’s also the homemade salted caramel, rainbow sprinkle, mini chocolate chip, and crushed Heath bar route which is where I’m taking you today!! Loaded Caramel Dipped Pretzels are Easy Heavy Cream: Heavy cream (approximately 36% milk fat) may also be sold as whipping cream. Light whipping cream (30% milk fat), or double cream (48% milk fat) may be substituted. Do not use milk. Room-temperature cream is best. Put the sugar and water into a large pan and place over a low heat until the sugar has dissolved. Once the sugar has dissolved, turn the heat up and stop stirring. Wait for the mixture to boil to an amber colour (this can take 5–10 minutes).

Next, unwrap the caramel candies and cut them in half. Place one-half of a caramel candy on top of each pretzel. Spread the chocolate around evenly with an offset spatula, sprinkle some sea salt on top of the bark, and then allow it to set at room temperature before chilling it in the fridge. Stir the butter into the sugar until it is completely melted. Use a whisk to stir the sugar and butter. Drizzle the heavy cream into the mixture and stir. Butter:I prefer using unsalted butter in my baked goods, but salted is just fine too... you'll just want to reduce the salt the recipe calls for to 1/8 teaspoon.

Method

Cool. Set the bark aside, and let it cool at room temperature until it has hardened and set. Or, to speed up the process, transfer it to the fridge instead.
