The goal for the players is to find the image of the storyteller from among those revealed. Each player secretly votes for the image they believe to be the storyteller's (the storyteller does not participate) by using their voting board.
Neither a player who has given the storyteller an image nor the storyteller can take part in the vote. The vote and the scoring follow the basic rules (do not use the voting and sco- ring rules for 7 or more players). Unfold and place the scoreboard in the middle of the table. Each player chooses a voting board and then places the rabbit of the corresponding color on the 0 space of the scoreboard. The 84 image cards are shuffled and 5 are dealt to each player. At the moment there are many forms of Dixit, and we’ll cover all the different versions within this review. However, this review will primarily cover Dixit: Odyssey.
The Dixit Experience
The replay value is very high, and with the Dixit expansions, which are now 10, this value goes even higher. In the original rules, players who did not find the storyteller 's card were ineligible for bonus points. If you haven’t played Dixit yet, the basic gist of the game is that there will be a storyteller each round, and they will declare a card from their hand with a vague hint while the other players also try to match that hint with one of their cards, with the storyteller aiming to have their card be figured out by at least one player, but not everyone, with the main draw of the game being the wonderfully illustrated cards with surreal imagery, making the vague hints needed even more vague by way of the artwork alone. The other players select amongst their 6 images the one that best matches the sentence made up by the storyteller.
The storyteller scores points if some, but not all, players guess correctly; the other players score points individually for having correctly guessed the storyteller's card, or if another player or players select the card they originally gave to the storyteller. In addition, if none of the players guessed correctly, the players receive points while the storyteller does not.
