I know David Day has a level of pariah in the Tolkien World. Mostly because his "encyclopedias" do not give the most accurate description of Tolkien characters and places. It's difficult to tell where Tolkien ends and Day begins. Ginzburg was one of the first historians to start popularizing micro-historical examinations of what could today be classified as weird little dudes.
