About this deal

I really liked using this monitor because it had a reliable connection, decent range and showed me a high quality view of my baby. However it’s pretty pricey for the privilege, particularly when you can’t tilt or pan the camera.

The cute little halo on the nursery Angel unit it also a night light, which glows with a delicate and soothing blue colour. This can be controlled through the parent unit. Unfortunately, this monitor lost connection a few times in both my house and garden. It always bleeped to alert me to this loss and regained connection without me needing to switch off the machine but it seemed more temperamental than the monitors I’ve reviewed above. If you mute the volume on the parent unit, it still does a good job of alerting you to your baby crying. Whenever there is a sound, a subtle green light glows at the top of the monitor. If the baby cries, the parent unit beeps and the text ‘Crying Alert’ appears on screen. If the crying is particularly loud then the green light turns red.We have this and its brilliant! It only cuts in when it detects noise but my goodness it's clear! I have significant hearing loss and was so worried that I wouldn't hear the monitor. This has been brilliant... Not only can you adjust sensitivity and also volume but it lights up much brighter if it's loud noise. This works well for me and I haven't had any problems with hearing my little one. This basic audio monitor does its job excellently. It never lost its connection during my testing (unlike many pricier models) and I used it throughout my house and garden for weeks. You set up the wireless movement sensor exactly as you do with Angelcare’s movement and sound monitor. If you are looking for a leading product that does all of that and have are able to splurge on a high end baby product then the Angelcare AC1100 might be for you.

You can switch off the movement part of this monitor and use it as an audio-only monitor like any other. As an audio monitor, it has excellent sound quality, transmits using DECT technology (which is considered more secure), a good range (working throughout my house and garden), and it never lost its connection during my testing. I love this product, really put a first time paranoid mother's mind at ease. Always worked well for us, has been used up to 18 months. We always found a good connection through the monitors and there were never any disruptions. The downfall to this monitor is that it cannot be used without the movement mat without changing settings. Also if my little boy would've got out of his bed it would bleep really loudly, which I guess proved it works but not so suitable when child gets older. Read more And it doesn’t end there. On top of choosing between audio and video, some monitors incorporate movement sensors that lie beneath baby’s mattress and set off an alarm if they detect no movement. If you’re an anxious parent who constantly watches the rise and fall of your baby’s chest whilst they sleep, a movement monitor might help you to get some proper rest. For other parents, it could create more anxiety than it alleviates. A false alarm can be very, well, alarming. We used an older model that is not wireless, it has a cord attached to the mat. The cords were cumbersome, but this was certainly never an issue. The high quality image captured in the nursery is transmitted to the parent unit onto a 7cm LCD touch screen. Meaning you get a crisp and accurate picture of your baby or child and what they are up to. This is the monitor for you if you want total peace of mind while your baby sleeps, with the added benefits of learning ‘how’ your baby sleeps with all the activity data you can access. The only thing I would improve is maybe to minimise the interference noise if both the baby unit and parent unit are close to each other. The sensor pad is an added reassurance when baby is in their own room. Only downfall is that you have to plug the sensor pad in for the monitor to work without alarming. Read more The baby unit can play a range of five soothing sounds, including birdsong, waves and chimes. The box says that it plays five lullabies, which is a questionable definition of the noises available. The sound quality from the baby unit isn’t great so the noises also sound a little fuzzy. It also has a temperature display and you can set a timer for hour-long intervals, starting from two hours. Finally, a word of warning. If you buy a monitor, always remember when its switched on that you can be heard in baby’s room. You don’t want to be those parents who carp about your guests whilst putting your baby to bed and then rejoin the party to find a room full of hurt and offended guests who’ve listened to every word of your private conversation broadcast over the monitor. Ouch. A few things to note- when my baby is at the edge of the crib (he’s a mover when asleep) it’ll alarm since the monitor is so far away. I’ve had to move the baby more centered in the crib when this happens. I fixed this by getting a cubby cove- then placed the monitor under the cubby cove, then a thin piece of wood, on top of the crib mattress. The monitor still works, which is fabulous! The Angelcare Movement and Sound Monitor AC403 allows you to keep a watchful eye on your infant as they sleep. Comes with sensorpad which is placed under your baby's mattress to detect movement, an alarm will sound after 20 seconds of no movement, this can be adjusted.

Should You Buy the Angelcare AC327?

This is a quality, reliable audio monitor which does the basics perfectly and has some nice extra features. Baby monitors allow you to keep tabs on your little one when you’re not in the same room as they play in their baby bouncer or nap in their cot. The question becomes how extensive you want those tabs to be, as the range of things that can be monitored keeps expanding. Yes- the beep when turning on is really annoying, especially when baby just fell asleep. I’ve remedied this by placing under a bunch of blankets to soften the beep, then taking out right away and placing on table near crib. It’s much better. The movement detection part is a large wireless square which you place under baby’s mattress. It needs to be laid upon a hard surface, so if your baby’s cot doesn’t have a solid base, then you’ll need to source a piece of hardboard measuring at least 33cm squared. Fortunately I found some scrap plywood in our shed to do the job and cover the slats on our cot, but it was an extra hassle at the start.

More complicated than other simple models to set up. (If you have ever set any digital item up before though, you should be fine seriously.) My daughter is now 6 months and to this day we haven’t had an false alarms from this monitor unlike some other leading brands. The Angelcare AC327 emits more EMF than the competition in this lineup. While the jury is still out on the cumulative effects of EMF on developing systems, we believe less is better and err on the side of caution when we can. The AC327 emitted 3.1 V/m, which is high compared to the competition, some of which had no EMF. Should You Buy the Angelcare AC327?Say hello to peace of mind with our advanced baby monitoring systems. With Angelcare® by your side, you can rest assured that your little one is protected at every moment, day or night. We understand the appeal of a one-and-done solution and see why parents will be drawn to this monitor. However, we think there are better, easier-to-use monitors in our best baby monitor review. Its performance in every testing metric makes it an overpriced option that does nothing very well. What Other Movement Monitor Should You Consider? This Phillips monitor has a small 2.7 inch screen for you to watch your baby, but shows a very clear picture in decent definition with good quality sound. Unfortunately the camera is static so can’t be zoomed, tilted or panned. You can opt to continuously watch your baby if desired, though this inevitably uses more battery power. I loved this product and it has really made a positive difference to my parenting, which is saying something considering this is baby number four! The sense of reassurance it gives by combining audio, visual and movement is outstanding and we were amazed at the clarity of the video picture, even in total darkness.
